The latest Jobs Outlook survey has been released by the REC, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, the highlights of which are summarised below. Positive news all round but especially for job seekers and those considering investigating a career move.

The latest figures show:

  • Eight in ten employers (80%) state that economic conditions are getting better
  • Three quarters (74%) of hirers plan to add permanent headcount over the next quarter, and seven in ten (71%) plan to do so from September onwards
  • 46% of employers expect confidence in hiring and investment decisions to get better
  • Four in ten (41%) employers increased pay/earnings of their staff in the last year and none (0%) reduced pay.

Sector Prospects -  Which sectors are likely to see the greatest demand for agency and permanent staff over the next 3 months?

Every category of sector skills, including Finance, experienced an uptick this month which reinforces sentiment towards both a general increase in demand for workers.

So, with many employers looking to grow their headcount and the subsequent competition for high calibre staff, now is a great time for many candidates to ‘dip their toe’ in the job market and see what career options are available to them.

Furthermore, the impact of a high quality and effective recruitment consultant to either manage an individual’s job search or help employers source and secure the right candidates for their business could never be more crucial.

How satisfied are you with the quality of candidates presented to you by your agencies?

A notable 88% of hirers are satisfied with the calibre of candidates presented to them by agencies in the last year. This has diminished slightly, but this is understandable in light of heightened demand for workers.

Criteria used by employers to select a recruitment agency.

97% of respondents stated ‘Quality of Service’ as being the most important factor when choosing a recruitment agency, closely followed by ‘Price’.

This is good news for us at Addington Ball as we pride ourselves on our quality of service and delivering a positive experience to both our candidates and clients, all of the time.
