About the Role

You've reached the stage in your career where routine management accounts no longer excite you. What does excite you is ownership. Influence. Being trusted as the financial lead for a complex, high-profile organisation, where your insight genuinely shapes decisions at board level.

This Senior Management Accountant role offers exactly that. It's a chance to step into a hands-on position where you're not just reporting the numbers, you're telling the story behind them. You'll have real autonomy and direct access to senior stakeholders.

Based in Shrewsbury, with flexible, hybrid or remote working available, this Senior Management Accountant opportunity is ideal if you want senior-level responsibility without sacrificing balance. Whether you're currently in practice or a commercial environment, this role gives you variety, visibility, and the satisfaction of seeing your work make a real impact.

If you're a Senior Management Accountant who enjoys ownership, challenge, and trusted relationships, this could be the career move that feels genuinely different.

Experience of working within the sports industry will be a huge advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for the end-to-end accounting function for a key client
  • Preparation and delivery of quarterly management accounts
  • Budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with senior stakeholders
  • In-depth variance analysis and trend reporting
  • Supporting strategic decision-making through detailed financial insight
  • Ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all reporting
  • Improving systems, processes, and financial controls

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong background in management accounting and financial reporting
  • Confident owning a full accounting process end to end
  • Comfortable working closely with senior, non-finance stakeholders
  • Analytical, commercially minded, and detail-focused
  • Self-motivated and disciplined in an autonomous environment

What's on Offer

  • £50,000 - £70,000 salary (FTE), depending on experience
  • Flexible, hybrid or remote working arrangements
  • Full-time role with a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • High level of autonomy and responsibility
  • Exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making
  • Supportive, professional working culture
  • Long-term career stability and progression
