Job Description
We are working closely with a highly reputable firm of chartered accountants, to attract and recruit an experienced Assistant Tax Manager who has considerable, in depth knowledge and experience of personal tax and can play a central role within the tax team based in Northampton. The unique selling point of this role is that it can be based from home, three to four days per week, with the remainder of the time based in their offices in Northamptonshire.
The tax team is responsible for a large and diverse portfolio of clients, from business owners and directors, sports professionals, musicians and media stars.
The Assistant Tax Manager is responsible for a team of tax professionals and a portfolio of over 1000 clients. You will manage the team to undertake the processing of tax returns and review complex tax returns within agreed service standards and to assist with the coaching and development of staff.
Responsibilities:
- Build good rapport with the client, with a clear understanding of client expectations and achieving high levels of client service.
- Provide general support to clients in the provision of tax advice.
- Regularly attend meetings; when appropriate, answering client queries. Takes minutes and proactively encourages the partner/manager to follow up on agreed actions.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Provide general support to clients in the provision of tax advice.
- Prepare tax returns and computations in conjunction with agreed timescales; ensures the efficient and risk managed delivery of compliance.
- Support Directors / Partners on tax planning and other ad hoc projects.
- Assist with the production of tax reports and reviewing documents.
Requirements:
- Demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to process and review tax returns
- ATT (essential)
- CTA (desirable)
- Current tax knowledge
- Computer literate
