This Warwickshire based firm of Chartered Accountants was established over thirty years ago and continues to build on their reputation for providing excellent advice and first class service to businesses and personal clients alike. Their portfolio consists of many clients in the local community in Coventry and the local area both small and large and across many sectors including engineering, the professions, the service sector, construction, manufacturing and automotive amongst others.
The firm is now looking for an experienced Bookkeeper & Payroll professional to take responsibility for both payroll and bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of clients. The role will support the thriving and expanding client out-sourced services and will have a focus on processing weekly and monthly payrolls using Sage Payroll. The role will be varied and require a person with good time-management skills in order to meet payroll and VAT deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with client to obtain relevant information for preparation of computerised bookkeeping records
- Desktop and cloud based computerised bookkeeping and ledger maintenance
- Preparation of bank reconciliations and other ledger reconciliations
- Prepare client VAT returns based on information supplied by client
- Ensure compliance with all VAT matters
- Finalise paperwork for dispatch to client and H.M. Revenue and Customs often working to tight deadlines
- The day to day administration of multiple client payrolls
- Process all types of manual payroll calculations;
- Use existing knowledge of PAYE/NIC, SMP, SPP, SAP and SSP when running client payrolls
What we are looking for:
- Experience in a freelance or practice environment
- Fully computer literate, including excellent Microsoft Office, Sage, Xero accounts systems and HR systems
- Excellent telephone manner with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work on your own or in a team
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work effectively and efficiently
- Flexible attitude to work patterns
- Excellent organisation and administrative skills
- Accurate data inputting skills and eye for detail
- Ability to use initiative in terms of decision making
