Job Description

As Group Financial Controller, you'll be responsible for the timely preparation of consolidated management accounts for all legal entities of this retail business. You'll be expected to create a reliable financial reporting system with clear structured accounting data to inform the business of its financial performance.

The Group Financial Controller will also be an authentic and driven leader and this is an excellent opportunity to join the business during an exciting period of positive change - a role where you really can make a difference. The Group Financial Controller role will be based in their head office Leicester.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, creating and implementing the accounting reporting platform that is fit for the business and its customers
  • Establishing appropriate financial accounting reports which is fit for purpose and suitable for the audience to achieve organisational goals
  • Ensuring accounting principles are appropriately applied to UK entities, overseas locations and for the US account submissions
  • Reviewing relevant financial controls to ensure the accuracy of financial results
  • Reviewing financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency accuracy and reliability of financial results
  • Leading the Financial Audit and be responsible for the completion of Annual Statutory Accounts and filings
  • Recruiting, Leading, developing and retaining a team of Management Accountants to optimise their full potential
  • Driving continuous improvement and seeking innovative solutions to complex issues

What we are looking for:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, or equivalent essential
  • Ability to lead a team in a dynamic environment, managing multiple and ever changing priorities while consistently meeting tight deadlines
  • Track record of developing teams
  • Familiarity with IFRS and US GAAP strongly preferred
  • Experience with managing statutory filing processes including working with external auditors
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively
  • Works collaboratively with other departments and is a team player
  • Strong and effective written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Capable of building relationships and influencing a variety of stakeholders
