Job Description

Experienced Accountant / Finance Manager required on a part time basis by SME business in Stratford-upon-Avon. Flexible on hours and work schedule.

My client is a successful SME retail business that has been established for over 20 years. Now operating a number of retail stores across the country, as the business has grown it has never lost sight of its original values, identity and philosophy. There is still an 'independent' feel to the business which continues to offer impeccably designed products sourced from all over the world.

Based at the head office function in Stratford-upon-Avon, you will be responsible for the finance function of the business. This will include all 'day-to-day' accounting, period end reporting and supervising a small team.

This is a part time role ideally for 3 - 4 days per week but there is flexibility regarding the days and hours worked for the right individual.

Key responsibilities:

* Supervise small team (2 staff)
* Preparation of full management accounts
* Month and quarter end accounts
* Profit & Loss accounts for stores
* Consolidations
* Raising journals, accrual, prepayments etc
* Purchase and Sales ledger
* Bank reconciliations
* Bank transfers
* Payroll (using Sage Payroll)
* Balance sheet reconciliations
* Maintain controls and procedures
* Maintenance of fixed asset registers
* VAT returns
* Regular liaison and communication with suppliers
* Ad hoc projects.

Requirements:

* Relevant all-round accounts background including experience of running a finance function gained as a Finance Manager, Accountant, Accounts Manager / Supervisor or equivalent
* Could suit AAT qualified or candidates deemed 'qualified by experience'
* Proficient user of Sage Line 50, Sage Payroll and the Microsoft Office packages
* Previous staff supervision experience
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Good attention to detail, committed to the highest standards of quality
* Comfortable working in a friendly SME environment
* 'Hands on' and flexible approach with willingness to get involved with other ad hoc duties as required.
